SATC

Seriously, not a day goes by where I don't miss Sex and the City

Weekend Wrap Up

What a weekend!

Friday started off by meeting my sister and her friend Jenny at Urban Union on Taylor street for dinner. The place was adorable! I would certainly go back there for drinks! The dinner was OK, but I think that's mostly because I wasn't the biggest fan of a few of the items we ordered. That being said, our waiter was adorable the vibe was great.

We then left dinner and went over to the UIC Pavilion to see Passion Pit! It was a great show and I heard a lot of songs of theirs (and the opening band Matt and Kim) that I liked a lot. Also, I'd never been to that venue which was cool and everything sounded great!

Saturday Megan and I got up and drove out to the suburbs to begin bridesmaid dress shopping! It was actually a super productive trip and helped us narrow down some styles and try on some dresses I never would have thought of! Over the next two weeks we have about 10 more appointments so hopefully that will be wrapping up soon! Saturday night Neil and I just hung out, made dinner and home and watched movies.

Sunday was an interesting day! We lounged around in the morning and then took Clark to the dog park. We ended up hanging out there for close to two hours chatting and watching the dogs play (small world: we ended up talking to a couple that went to Dayton and graduated the same year as me)! When we were about to leave someone noticed that one of the dogs were bleeding and we saw that it was Clark, he had a nip on the tip of his ear. It definitely didn't look like a bad cut, but the blood made it look like he was in a street fight! He has blood all over his face and head, but was walking around like it was normal! I was freaking out, but thankfully Neil was calm about it. We got him home and Neil gave him a bath. Wow. When I went into the bathroom it looked like someone was stabbed to death in the tub! Blood was all over the place, on the walls, mirrors, towels, EVERYWHERE!! It was like a scene from the Soprano's and I had to clean the place with bleach! Though Clarkie didn't look like he was in pain, the cut would not stop bleeding!

Finally after awhile, Neil was able to get a band aid on Clark's ear so that would hopefully stop the bleeding. Poor little Clark slept so much and so hard for the rest of the day!

Oh, the adventures of having a dog!!

Wedding Momentum

Since Neil and I picked a reception venue I'm trying not to lose any steam when it comes to wedding planning! So as of this week we have sent the deposit in for the reception venue, photographer and DJ and reserved a hotel block. We have quotes/estimates/contracts pending for the ceremony, transportation, draping, rehearsal dinner and booze.

Right now I'm obsessed with wedding planning. I love making calls to vendors, getting estimates, making spreadsheets and haggling rates! I spent hours the other night looking through magazines getting a bunch of DIY ideas. I'm so anxious to book all the vendors so I can get to work on the crafts!

I've been putting off wedding dress shopping, but know I need to get on that in the next few weeks. My sister and I are going to look for bridesmaids dresses this weekend to get an idea on what kind of style and color we want. I get so anxious about shopping for dresses. I feel like the places are all so classy and the sales people are skinny and look so put together. Meanwhile I'll come in with split ends, gross eyebrows (I'm working on them!!!), and Old Navy jeans.

                                                                                               This is how I'll look.

Neil has been focusing his resources on the honeymoon! He came home last night with a great agenda and lots of really fun and great ideas! So many of my friends have said that always forgot about the honeymoon because they were so caught up planning the actual wedding and I definitely understand what they mean! I love that Neil has put so much thought and effort into this and is trying to make it extra special for us both!

Weekend Wrap Up

Well, my first booze-free weekend has come to an end and I survived!! There were certainly moments throughout the weekend where I almost quit or drank out of habit, but overall, it wasn't too bad!

Friday night Neil went out to dinner with his friend Nick and I stayed in to get some extra snuggle time with Clark. Saturday morning I woke up (much easier to do when you don't drink the night before) and took Clark to the dog park, then I met my friend Annie and her husband for a yoga class in Bucktown. We then went back to their place where Ben cooked us brunch. It was so much fun to catch up with them and hang out.

When I got home, I felt kinda sick so I chugged a bunch of water and that didn't help. Then, my whole right arm and face started going numb and tingling and it traveled over my whole face and tongue and onto my left side. It was the craziest feeling ever! Now, in the past when I've gotten a migraine, I've had the tingles so that  didn't scare me at first, but then it went to my tongue and I freaked out. Luckily Neil was on his way home because I seriously thought I was going to die!

Thankfully, I didn't die, but I did get the most intense migraine. Neil got me a few Poweraids to down and I kept drinking tons and tons of water and for the most part, it flushed the pain away. But for about 4 hours there I was crying in pain. So happy that passed relatively quickly!

Since Neil and I haven't had a date night in ages, I didn't want anything to stop us from going out, so we went to dinner at a cute Italian place in Andersonville. The food was good and the ambiance was adorable!

Yesterday we went to look at some rehearsal dinner venues and had lunch at Goose Island. When we got home Neil gave Clark and bath and I cooked and cleaned a bit. Nothing is better than a clean Clark. He's so soft, smells so good and is super tired from the bath. So I spent the remained of the weekend squeezing Clark and watching Downton Abbey. OMG, how crazy was that episode?!!?! I can't wait another year to see more!!!

Web Cam?

Though we don't have a web cam or a doggie cam set up to see what Clark does during the day, it's pretty safe to assume it's this all day:

                                                                     Currently doing.
                                                            Couldn't get any smaller.
                                                                       Airing it all out
                                                                                               Just, so tired!

Resolution Re-Do (AKA Lent)

This year for Lent I've decided to give up drinking (pause for dramatic affect). My sister Megan said she was going to do this a few months ago and I've always wished her luck, but knew it was something I couldn't/wouldn't want to do. But after drinking a bit too much this past weekend and finding that my weight loss goals are not progressing as I had hoped, I decided it was worth a shot! Luckily in addition to Megan, a few of my friends are also on this journey, so a support system should help. I mean it's only 39 days, right? (obviously, the Pope made a special dispensation for St. Patrick's day. Don't look it up, just take my word for it).

I know Lent shouldn't be a selfish thing, but really, I need to loose some weight for this wedding! I'm frustrated because, though I've lost a few pounds, I've noticed that the last two weeks or so, I have stayed steady, which is not good. So I'm hoping this will jump start (again) the wedding diet. Drinking leads to snacking, hangovers and puffy eyes. All of which are not going to help me look pretty in white come November!

In addition to cutting out the booze, I'm also planning on cutting back on frivolous spending. I feel as though these two Lenten promises contradict one another. When I don't drink on the weekends I'll be bored and want to spend money. But, I need to cut back the spending! Not that I'm putting blame on anyone or anything, but living 15 feet from a Target is NOT EASY!! I am over there at least 4 times a week and spend way too much money each time I go! I pop in for toilet paper and come out with dog bones, nail polish, a new rug, greeting cards and a green hat (always keeping my eye open for St. Patty's day). So unnecessary.

I don't want to say I "get" what Jesus went through, but I will say this is going to be a very big sacrifice on my behalf (please note: that was intended as an obvious joke)! I hope I don't go crazy over the next 6 weeks!

Snowy City

Waking up to a good bit of snow the past two days has been amazing! I love the snow and everything looks so pretty when its all white and sparkly!

These last few days have been very wedding filled and productive! It looks as though we have a DJ and photographer and potentially a church all set up! This weekend my sister, Caitlin and I went to a wedding show called Indie Wed to check out some wedding ideas! It was a super cute show and showcased some great vendors! Afterwards we stopped to do the most important wedding task: drink (bottomless) champagne!

Thank you to Megan and Caitlin for coming to the show with me!! So much fun!

Yesterday we watched the Puppy Bowl and Super bowl and had an awesome 7 layer taco dip (the somewhat healthy version of it). Clark really got into the puppy bowl! And when I say he got into it, I mean he went to sleep at 2:00 and didn't wake up until about 7:30 to eat.
